BlueMoney for BlueRun... Keepin' it Real

The famous playwright, screenwriter and director, David Mamet, once said that the most disgraceful thing about filmmaking was raising the required money.  (Or something like that.)   Amen Mamet.  And perhaps even more difficult is the pervasive challenge of appearing as if you don't need to raise the funds, as if it is not consumptive of all your time, when in fact it is.

Am I complaining?  Nah, settle down, I'm just mildly bitchin'.  And yeah, there is a difference.  If you're a serious player in the film biz, or in any investment-required business, then you get it, ya feel me...you understand.  Use it as a personal litmus test.

One of the most distasteful things about the capital fundraising process (regardless if it is the film biz or real estate, or money for that fool-proof invention)... is not the introductions, the letters, the pitches, the asking, the waiting, or the empty pledges that constitute a quick trip to the nut-house... it is the know-it-alls who wanna tell you how to do things, without having ever raised a dime themselves, and without an ounce of intention to actually invest their own money.   Those men and women are priceless pains in the ass.

With 20+ years of experience, I may be pretty good at discerning them, but it is nevertheless difficult, sometimes, to avoid them, to head them off before wasting a moment with them.  They range from the little Italian dude who literally stalked me when I was in London last summer... to the recent guy from Cypress who emailed me continually telling me how to do things, but then his sensitive nature became 'offended' when I turned to him and said, "Hey, how about you investing, and then, as an insider you can give us all your advice."  Oh, no...that was a bridge too far!  What a poser.

Ah well...whatcha gonna do?  I press on.  We're making good, albeit slower than we'd like, progress.  We've added a new page on our BlueRun Productions site, where you can get an overview of the methods of investment in our films, including this one, Of Kings & Cowboys, and in BlueRun itself:  www.BlueRunProductions.com/Investment.htm

And if you want to arm-chair quarterback us.... fine....but don't be surprised when we turn to you and say, "Hey buddy...thanks for all the counsel, so how about you throw some Benjamins on the table?" Ride on.
